Nicholas Malcolm Watson (Nick Watson) has spent over 10 years working in Indonesia, and has experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters.
He obtained his law degree from the University of Western Australia. Between 1985 and 1998 he worked with Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons), where he became a partner in 1996. He spent two years with Allen & Overy in London from 1988 to 1990. He has also been a partner of Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst Australia) and worked as a senior legal adviser in Western Australia’s ministry of justice.
In Australia and London his practice was primarily as a banking and finance specialist. He has continued to practice in that area in Indonesia but as part of a wider corporate and commercial practice, and he has been involved in the preparation of advice on many areas of Indonesian law. Transactional matters in which he has been involved in Indonesia include:
- Foreign investment and joint ventures
- Mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactions generally
- Bank financing (including project financing)
- Bond issues
- IPOs and other equity raisings
- Securitization
- Real estate development
- Product manufacture and distribution
- Restructuring and insolvency
He is also visiting lecturer at the University of Tarumanagara in Jakarta.
